The active ingredients and how they work
BIO-RETINOL
Comes from the Bidens Pilosa plant, which is native to tropical areas and produced without Palm Oil. Bioretinol is a vegan alternative to the Vitamin A-derived Retinol. Benefits: Improves skin texture and hydration, reverses the effects of sun damage, closes the pores, regulates oil production in the skin, reduces the appearance of wrinkles and promotes cell renewal. In addition to these benefits which we can also obtain from Retinol, bio-retinol has a soothing effect on the skin by effectively regulating its inflammatory properties, is more stable when in contact with light and oxygen and does not irritate the skin. Check out our article on retinoids / retinol / bio-retinol / bakuchiol for more information.
HYALURONIC ACID
(Hydrolysed Hyaluronic Acid with anti-ageing effect) Hyaluronic acid plays a decisive role in keeping skin appearing young and smooth. It works in many different ways: It stimulates the skin connective tissues cells to produce collagen and other essential substances for a better skin elasticity It prevents skin from drying out through its high water retention properties It promotes nutrient supply to the skin It is effective in trapping free radicals, mitigating the harmful effects that various external factors may have on the skin Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occuring substance found in various tissues and organs throughout the body including the epidermis, connective tissues, cartilage, synovial fluid, the eyes and more. Hyaluronic acid attracts and retains water, an important quality for keeping these areas of the body in good condition.
ALOE VERA
Restores the skin’s barrier function; moisturising, soothing and nourishing imperfect skin, softening it and improving elasticity. Aloe Vera also promotes a deep regeneration of cells damaged by dehydration, and soothes irritations and itchiness caused by dryness. It keeps the skin firm, soft and supple for longer. Pure gel moisturises, refreshes and softens the skin and contains antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and regenerating properties.
Benefits: Slows down the production of free radicals that cause skin ageing Promotes cell regeneration, helping to fill in fine lines, scars and acne marks Removes age spots and dark spots on the skin
SUNFLOWER OIL
Is rich in oleic acid and has moisturising, nourishing and softening properties. It improves the appearance and overall condition of the skin especially for those with dry, dehydrated or peeling skin. Sunflower oil is rich in vitamins A and E, proteins, mineral salts and fatty acids. It is nourishing and suitable for all skin types and is particularly good for those with more sensitive and dryer skin.
JOJOBA OIL
Is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins E and F, making it effective for skin regeneration. Acting at the skin’s outermost layer, it forms a protective film of superficial waxy lipids. It protects and softens the skin.
PANTENOL
Moisturises the skin. It provides moisture and retains water in the skin, helping to keep the skin supple and soft.
SHEA BUTTER
Is a natural oil extracted from the fruit of the shea tree, native to the driest regions of equatorial Central Africa. It contains linoleic acid, an unsaturated fatty acid which when applied topically helps to restore the skin’s barrier effect on the skin’s outermost layer. The acid works to: re-oil the skin, condition and soften the skin, calm possible irritations, and protect the skin from the effects of sun exposure such as dry skin.
GREEN TEA
Is well known as an antioxidant product owing to the polyphenols it contains, as well as the presence of vitamins B and C.
VITAMIN E
Also known as tocopherol, is the most effective fat-soluble antioxidant. It slows down the ageing process of the skin cells and combats free radicals that damage the skin. Vitamin E also protects against environmental factors that can damage the skin such as pollution and the sun, as well as having a regenerative effect on the skin. It increases microcirculation (blood flow) in the skin, ensuring increased tissue nourishment, improving skin elasticity, and reducing wrinkles.
The colour, text and smell of natural products are a result of the combination of ingredients that they contain. Our Bio-retinol Night Cream smells of bergamot, one of its natural ingredients.
